Building a New Era of Innovation
Dear Vitro Certified™ Network Member,
Over the past several months, we’ve all faced unforeseen challenges. Through it all, at Vitro, we’re keeping our eyes on the prize: innovation.
In recent years, we have seen architect interest in bird-safe glass intensify. Last month, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Bird-Safe Buildings Act, which will soon head to the Senate. In this issue, we review recent legislative progress that underscores what we all suspected: bird-safe building design is more than just a trend. It will only continue to gain in preference. As the National Glass Association (NGA) leads an ongoing advocacy effort, we expect further acceleration of bird-safe glass legislation. From a product standpoint, with our partner Walker Glass, we’re ready.
This issue also reviews the roles of our dedicated team and customers who worked together to complete the Rolex Tower in Dallas, a remarkable achievement in glass fabrication, delivery and installation.
Meanwhile, Martin Bracamonte, formerly vice president of operations, has been named vice president of marketing and innovation. Martin bears three decades of experience maximizing manufacturing efficiency, output and production within the glass industry. We expect his appointment to open new doors for our customers in the form of original technologies and stronger partnerships.
As this new era of innovation takes shape, we congratulate another innovator, Scott Smith, on his retirement. Scott led the creation of the Vitro Certified™ Network (formerly PPG Certified Fabricator Program), managed it for two decades and helped grow it into the unprecedented program it is today. In the coming months, Scott will hand over the reins to another pair of highly capable hands: Joanne Funyak, formerly manager of sales support and MSVD products.
Please take some time to reach out to Martin, Scott and Joanne, and congratulate them on their new chapters!
Sincerely,
Mark Seeton
