Dear Vitro Certified®
Network Member,
2024 is shaping up to be a big year here at Vitro. In just the first three months of the year, several teams have been hard at work preparing to introduce new and improved glass products that will offer even more value to our Vitro Certified®
Network members and enhance the power of our partnerships.
This quarter we released Solarban®
65 low-e glass, Vitro’s newest solar control low-e glass that is designed to offer superior energy efficiency. A modernization of our popular Solarban®
60 glass, Solarban®
65 glass is engineered to meet today’s stricter code standards and sustainability goals while still offering a clear, color-neutral look. With a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.35, Solarban®
65 glass is engineered to block 65% of solar heat energy while also allowing 70% of the visible light to pass through.
We’re also celebrating the launch of Sungate ThermL™
glass, a low-e coating engineered for use on the interior surface of a typical one-inch IGU that dramatically improves U-values when paired with a Solarban®
solar control low-e glass on the second surface. Sungate ThermL™
glass is neutral, colorless and provides low reflectivity, so it looks just like uncoated clear glass while offering enhanced durability, insulation and a high rate of visible light transmittance (VLT).
Lastly, we introduced key updates to VacuMax™
Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG) that improve on its already superior thermal performance and offer more desirable aesthetics. For unparalleled insulation performance, VacuMax™
VIG is now being manufactured with Solarban®
70 glass to provide R-values of R18⁺. Additionally, VacuMax™
VIG is being manufactured without vacuum ports and has hidden getter discs for an even cleaner aesthetic.
I hope you enjoy reading the first issue of this year’s newsletter, which includes our newest Glass Education Center article on the science of condensation and glass. Also included is a feature about the UC San Diego Torrey Pines Living & Learning Neighborhood, a highly sustainable, energy efficient design that addresses Southern California’s climate and social challenges, and a get-to-know story featuring Fernando Diez, who is our recently promoted Vice President of Marketing.
Sincerely,
Mark Seeton
