Innovating with Sustainability Top of Mind

Dear Vitro Certified™ Network Member,

At Vitro, we’re proud of our legacy of being deeply committed to sustainability, from striving to meet industry-wide certification standards to implementing responsible manufacturing processes and developing products that support large-scale energy reduction. In 2021, we’ve introduced several new products that align with our mission to realize the full potential for environmentally-friendly glass innovation on a global scale.

March saw the introduction of Solarvolt building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) glass lites. Solarvolt™ BIPV lites combine the aesthetics and performance of Vitro Glass products with CO2-free power generation and protection from the elements, simultaneously generating passive solar power, reducing air conditioning costs and even replacing conventional cladding materials.

In April, we unveiled Titan glass, a new oversized glass product for large-scale exterior insulating glass units (IGUs). Available in thicknesses of 8 and 10 millimeters, Titan glass can be manufactured with Solarban® 60, 70, 72, 90 or R100 solar control low-e coatings for added energy efficiency.

In this issue, we introduce you to Nathan McKenna, director of marketing and innovation, who has been integral to the September launch of VacuMax™ Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG), Vitro’s newest glass product that offers wall-like insulating performance. It is the focus of this issue’s Technical Forum.

We hope you enjoy the third quarter issue of the Vitro Certified™ Network newsletter, in which you’ll learn more about Nathan, the technology that powers VacuMax™ VIG and a technically challenging redevelopment project in Boston that transformed two 1900s-era bank buildings into a striking office complex.

Sincerely,
